Welcome to the St. Peter Chanel Parish School of Religion (PSR) page. We are happy that you have chosen PSR and its various educational and social opportunities.
We along with you, the parent, have the honor, the privilege and the responsibility to hand on the richness of the Roman Catholic Faith to your child. The premise of our faith tradition, of course, emanates from the profound love that God has for us all. For your convenience, we have provided a link to our Parent/Student Handbook for your review
We are proud that all of our PSR program directors and coordinators are well-trained and well-resourced. But at the heart of the PSR ministry are the many volunteers who make this a well-run program. All of our volunteers are screened, and each of them receives the training necessary for them to be an effective spiritual leader in your child's life.
Above all else, please know that we value your concerns and needs. If you are not able to find the information you are seeking on our PSR pages, please call or email us. We are always happy to answer your questions; however, since many of us are part-time, we may be able to respond to you more quickly via email.
Thank you and congratulations for being a part of the PSR ministry...a wonderful faith adventure awaits you and your loved ones. Welcome!
In order to participate in PSR programs, you must be a registered parishioner. If you are new to the parish, please take a moment to complete and submit a New Parishioner Registration Form. Registration forms and instructions are listed below for your convenience. Use the PSR Family Registration Form for grades PreK through 10. High school teens are also encouraged to register on the Youth Ministry Registration Form (there is no charge to register for Youth Ministry.) Please contact our office at 678-832-1230 with any questions.
We will do our best to meet your registration requests; however, please be aware that some session times and/or classes are at capacity. All registration is processed online. Once you submit your registration form, we will contact you by email with your child's class placement. Please do not attempt to attend classes until you receive your confirmation email from the PSR Office.
Top 10 Reasons to Become
PSR Registration Opens April 23rd!
All PSR volunteers are called to teach and witness the Good News of Jesus Christ to our children so that they may respond to God in faith, prayer, behavior, community and discipleship. We are looking for people who love their faith and want to pass on that faith to our children and youth. If your desire is to teach or simply support those who will be teaching; we would love to have you join a team. Please contact the appropriate Program Coordinator with any questions, or complete the online PSR Adult Volunteer Form on our PSR Registration Information page if you are interested in volunteering. Scroll down for information on Weekly and Non-Weekly volunteer roles.
Whether you are an employee or a member of a parish ministry that works with children or hosts children’s events, the Archdiocese of Atlanta requires that you register for a VIRTUS training session. PSR volunteers who have not yet been screened or whose screening has expired must complete the VIRTUS training prior to their first day in the classroom. For a complete list of available sessions and to register online, visit Virtus Online.
Catechists implement and plan sessions together with other co-catechists on their team. Basic session plans are provided by the Program Coordinator and are available on our Catechist Blog Links for easy access by our volunteers. If you are new to the Church (or PSR), or are not yet comfortable in a teaching role, you may wish to begtin as an Aide. Aides report each week and are assigned as support where needed. This is a wonderful way to learn the ropes to be a catechist down the road as the goal for all of our team members is to be able to teach. Weekly volunteers receive reduced tuition for their children of $25 per child with a family maximum of $65.
Many supporting roles are available for volunteers who are currently unable to make a weekly commitment of their time and talent. Please contact the appropriate PSR Coordinator for more information, or complete the online PSR Adult Volunteer Form on our PSR Registration Information page if you would like to help in a supporting role. Examples of non-weekly roles include:
