All PSR volunteers are called to teach and witness the Good News of Jesus Christ to our children so that they may respond to God in faith, prayer, behavior, community and discipleship. We are looking for people who love their faith and want to pass on that faith to our children and youth. If your desire is to teach or simply support those who will be teaching; we would love to have you join a team. Please contact the appropriate Program Coordinator with any questions, or complete the online PSR Adult Volunteer Form on our PSR Registration Information page if you are interested in volunteering. Whether you are an employee or a member of a parish ministry that works with children or hosts children’s events, the Archdiocese of Atlanta requires that you register for a VIRTUS training session. PSR volunteers who have not yet been screened or whose screening has expired must complete the VIRTUS training prior to their first day in the classroom. For a complete list of available sessions and to register online, visit Virtus Online.
Catechists implement and plan sessions together with other co-catechists on their team. Basic session plans are provided by the Program Coordinator and are available on our Catechist Blog Links for easy access by our volunteers. If you are new to the Church (or PSR), or are not yet comfortable in a teaching role, you may wish to begtin as an Aide. Aides report each week and are assigned as support where needed. This is a wonderful way to learn the ropes to be a catechist down the road as the goal for all of our team members is to be able to teach. Weekly volunteers receive reduced tuition for their children of $25 per child with a family maximum of $65.
Many supporting roles are available for volunteers who are currently unable to make a weekly commitment of their time and talent. Please contact the appropriate PSR Coordinator for more information, or complete the online PSR Adult Volunteer Form on our PSR Registration Information page if you would like to help in a supporting role. Visit our YM Adult Volunteer Interest Form to see how you can help with Youth Ministry. Examples of non-weekly roles include:
