Middle School Faith Formation

Two options are available for middle school youth: Middle School EDGE offers a youth ministry format geared to the younger adolescent, utilizing materials by Lifeteen's EDGE program. Growing in Faith Together is a family-based catechesis for children ages Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Both programs seek to nourish the spiritual development of youth through faith learning and liturgical experiences, to foster a commitment to others through service opportunities, and to develop a sense of parish community by providing optional social events for our middle school youth. Permission slips for all optional events can be found on our Middle School Events page. Please register in advance. Confirmation preparation takes place during 7th and 8th Grade. All 7th and 8th graders must attend EDGE, GIFT or an Archdiocesan approved school to be on track to celebrate the sacrament in the Fall of 10th grade. Candidates who missed previous sacraments may need additional prepration. Visit the Confirmation page for more information.

Middle School EDGE (Grades 7-8)
Sunday Morning: 10:30 am-Noon at Blessed Trinity High School
Sunday Evening: 6:30-8:00 pm at St. Peter Chanel

Middle School PSR sessions offer catechesis in a youth ministry format geared to the young adolescent with an emphasis on fellowship and active learning. Sessions follow the Gather, Proclaim, Break, Send structure that keeps them active and engaged. The curriculum follows the EDGE Middle School Resources by Life Teen. All sessions are 90 minutes and include a light snack/social time before our session begins. The morning session meets in the Auxiliary Gym at Blessed Trinity High School with donuts from 10:10-10:25 am. The evening session meets in McNamee Hall at St. Peter Chanel with pizza from 6-6:30 pm.

  • EDGE replaces our previous PSR curriculum and is offered ONLY at 10:30 am Sunday mornings and 6:30 pm Sunday evenings. The middle school schedule does not include a 9:00 am Sunday session.
  • Please register for the EDGE session time that your child can attend regularly and does not conflict with their extracurricular activities. If your child plans to participate in Cotillion (aka Promenade), please choose the morning EDGE session.
  • All 8th graders must attend either EDGE or an approved Archdiocesan Catholic school to be on track to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation in the 10th grade. Attendance of at least 80% of EDGE sessions is needed to meet the Confirmation preparation requirement for 7th and 8th Grade.

Growing In Faith Together (Grades K-8)
Sundays: 9:00 am at St. Peter Chanel followed by 10:45 am Mass

Growing in Faith Together (GIFT) helps us to find ways to practice our faith daily and to share it within our families. GIFT meets once a month from 9:00 am to 10:30 am and culminates with the celebration of the 10:45 am Mass. Sessions include both family time as well as breakouts in age-appropriate groups. At least one parent must attend the session with their child(ren). Continued practice of living and sharing the faith will be accomplished through the use of the online GIFT resource center. It is our expectation that you can devote approximately 30 minutes a week using any of these resources to strengthen your family's faith journey. Attendance of at least 80% of GIFT sessions is needed to meet the Confirmation preparation requirement for 7th and 8th Grade.
