Bereavement Support Group

To experience the loss of any loved one within our lives brings a great sense of loss and it is an experience that changes our lives forever. The Bereavement Support Group will meet at various announced times during the year. The group’s aim is mutual aid, an opportunity to share common problems, emotional support, an opportunity to develop a new social system, provide information about the process of grieving and loss, provide information about resources and give encouragement.

Cancer Support

The Cancer Support Group offers a safe, confidential environment to share feelings, seek guidance from other cancer survivors and offer and receive encouragement, resource information, and most importantly, hope. The group meets once a month and is open to all parishioners who have ever been diagnosed with any form of cancer.

Good Neighbor Meals

The Good Neighbor Meals Ministry provides temporary relief to parish families who are undergoing a severe time of illness or extremely stressful situation, by preparing and delivering evening meals to their home.

Job Seekers Ministry

The Job Seekers Ministry prepares those seeking employment, or in career transition, by giving them the skills and tools to locate and acquire satisfying work while incorporating spirituality in the process. Topics focused on include networking, interviewing, resume creation and social media skills. All are welcome to participate.

Medical Transportation

This ministry assists St. Peter Chanel parishioners who need transportation to their medical appointments, i.e.: non-emergency visits; strictly limited to medical appointments only; limited resources for getting to a doctor’s appointment; 72 hours notification required. Our volunteers will accompany participants to the doctor’s office upon request. Drivers are St. Peter Chanel men and women who have had background checks in compliance with Archdiocesan safe environment guidelines.

Prayer Blankets are sewn with love and prayers and are a symbol of our St. Peter Chanel faith sharing community. They “cover with prayer” those who receive one.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a lay caregiving ministry that provides professional, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. The program teaches laypersons to provide one-on-one care for individuals who request support. The confidential care-giver and care-receiver relationship, usually conducted by weekly visits, lasts as long as there is a  need. Reasons for requesting a Stephen Minister’s visits may range from grieving the loss of a loved one, experiencing a major illness, going through a divorce, job loss, struggling with substance abuse, or other life difficulties.
