What is Alpha?

Young and old, married and single... we all have questions! Questions about school or work, or maybe about family and friends.

"What am I going to wear today?" "Where will I eat?" "What will the weather be today?" "What am I going to do this weekend?" "I wonder what my friends would like to do tonight?"

Some questions are more important than others.

"Is it time for a job change?" "Am I ready for this exam?" "Will this medicine help?"

All of us sometimes ask even deeper questions about life and purpose, faith and meaning.

"Why am I here? Is there more to life?" "What am I made for?" "Where am I going?" "Is there really a God?"

“Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. It’s run in churches, bars, coffee shops and homes worldwide. Essentially, Alpha is a safe place to explore life’s biggest questions.”

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith and the meaning of life, typically run over eleven weeks, with a day or weekend away. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Each session includes food, a short talk and a discussion at the end where you can share your thoughts. There’s no pressure, no follow up and no charge. Everyone is welcome.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for you!

I have questions...

Maybe you do not practice any faith or know God, but you have questions about life and may wonder if there is something more to life than what you are living?

I was raised in a religious tradition, but...

You may have been raised a Catholic or other Christian, but just never saw the point or "got anything out of going to church." Maybe you are non-Christian from another religious tradition and have just wondered about Catholics or Christianity in general.

I'm a Christian seeking renewal who wonders if something is missing...

Sometimes friends, even good friends, drift apart. Maybe you are a Catholic who loves the Lord and lives a life of faith, but who seeks renewal. Or feel you may have begun to drift and just want to reconnect and strengthen your friendship with Jesus.

I have a deep faith, and live the sacramental life of grace, prayer and service. Is Alpha for me? ...

Yes! Indeed, you may be a Catholic of deep faith, but there is always the possibility of meeting Jesus all over again where you are today today. Come meet Jesus anew, as if for the first time.

No matter who you are or where you are, Alpha is for you. Come and see!
