Dee Merriman’s path to the Catholic Church began when she married a Catholic. She and her husband raised their children in the Catholic Church, but Dee was hesitant to make a commitment and continued to identify herself as Protestant. It wasn’t until the unexpected death of her husband of 25 years that she began to see and hear things differently. With a yearning in her heart for peace and joy, her desire to deepen her faith led her to the RCIA process, otherwise known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. After receiving the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation in April of this year, she passionately shares this message, “Please don’t wait for a life changing event to make the decision to respond to God’s call. If you are an adult thinking about becoming Catholic or receiving Sacraments, give RCIA a try...just come to one class. It might be just what you are looking for. It gave me my first glimpse of what it was like to be accepted and embraced by a Catholic family.” We welcome Dee to our family at St. Peter Chanel!
