Be sealed with the Holy Spirit.
In the name of the Father
and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Rite of Confirmation

Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace: It roots us more deeply in the divine filiation (becoming adopted sons and daughters of God) which makes us cry, "Abba! Father!"; it unites us more firmly to Christ; it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us; it renders our bond with the Church more perfect; it gives us a special strength of the Hoy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never be ashamed of the Cross. (CCC - 1303)

This sacrament, Confirmation, together with Baptism and Eucharist, form the Sacraments of Initiation that are all intimately connected. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. It deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and world.

Confirmation for Youth (Grades 9 through 12)

In the Archdiocese of Atlanta, reception of the sacrament of Confirmation takes place in 10th Grade after completing a two-year preparation program. At St. Peter Chanel, formation and preparation usually takes place during 7th and 8th Grade, and candidates are confirmed in the Fall of their 10th Grade year. Visit the Confirmation page for details. For teens who missed previous sacraments and/or 7th and 8th grade preparation, you are asked to contact our Confirmation Coordinator to discuss how we may best work with you and your teen to prepare to celebrate this foundational sacrament.
